10 great documentary films about the environment

Climate change is arguably the most pressing issue we face today. As people are slowly waking up to the critical state of our planet, film-makers from around the world have been quick to get involved in the conversation. Every decision we make – from what we eat, what we wear, and how we move around – has a huge impact on our world.

Through the power of storytelling, filmmakers are able to address these critical issues –  challenging audiences to sit up and listen, and inspiring us all to make changes to save our planet.

That’s why Barnes Film Festival chooses to GO GREEN this year – all submissions for our film-making competition must have an environmental theme of air and water.

Which leads us to the question… What are your favourite documentary films about the environment? We’ve made a list of our top ten below. Check out the trailers – who knows, you could be inspired!
